Practice Modifications

We will be updating this page as our practice adapts to this unprecedented time. Your safety is our priority!  Please check back here regularly.

HERE'S WHAT'S NEW...

We have asked our medical assistant Jessica to call you the day prior to your visit.  She will help prepare you for your visit, remind you to complete any surveys your doctor has requested, review your medication list, and help you obtain your vital signs. This helps provide your doctor more information to help you in your visit, and allows you to spend more time during your visit on the things that matter.  It also helps Root stay compliant with requirements for insurance-based virtual visits!

Remember:

  • For non-urgent questions (refills, to schedule an appointment etc) please call the office between 9am - 4pm Monday through Friday.

  • We currently only have two staff members so please be patient.  You need only to leave one voicemail or Gateway message for each question - we promise someone will follow up!

VIRTUAL VISITS

Most of our visits are still being done virtually and this is likely to continue for some time.  We have been able to manage many different conditions and concerns virtually; we can do follow-ups for any chronic condition, acute visits for any new symptoms, and now even Annual Physicals and Well Child visits.

We are using a secure Zoom platform for our virtual visits.  You will find your unique link in the Patient Gateway under Appointments & Visits.  Here's how to prepare...

The day before your visit:

  • Download and install Zoom (either the App or on a computer via zoom.us/download)

  • Open your Patient Gateway using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari and find the Appointments & Visits heading

  • Find your appointment with Root and click on the E-Check in box and see if there are any surveys to complete – these are really important for your doctor to see during your visit!

  • Prepare any vital signs that you are able to do at home: you can take your pulse, check your weight, and take a blood pressure if you have a home cuff.  For Well Child visits, please check a length/height as well

5 minutes before your visit:

  • Open your Patient Gateway using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari and find the Appointments & Visits heading

  • Find your appointment with Root and click on the Details box

  • Click on "Begin Virtual Visit" then please remain in your doctor's "waiting room" until the visit starts

IN-OFFICE VISITS

We have started to see limited WELL patients in the office.   These visits will look and feels a bit differently than they used to!  We have a strict protocol in place to keep everyone safe.  Our Medical Assistant Jessica will call patients the day before your visit to ensure you are not having any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.  You must wear a mask to the office, and appointment times are spaced out to minimize contact between patients.

  • Dr. Lee is now seeing well patients in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Osteopathy, Annual Physicals, and Well Child Visits (especially for patients under 2yo), and visits that require a physical exam.

  • Dr. Byrne is seeing patients in the office on Thursdays for Annual Physicals, and Well Child Visits (especially for patients under 2yo), and visits that require a physical exam

  • We are NOT doing any testing for COVID-19 in our office. If you feel you need testing please call the office and we will assess if you qualify to be tested at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

  • We are able to provide childhood vaccinations in the office or parking lot if desired, even if you choose to do a virtual Well Child visit - please call the office to schedule.
